If they come along in combination with delicious spices and a little apple, then they have what it takes to become the perfect partner for a cozy and cozy afternoon on the couch (perhaps with a hot cocoa). The moist Winter Chocolate Bundt Cake with Apple is just such a cake.

This fabulously delicious cake was baked with the extremely delicious Red Spirit mulled cocoa, delicately tart, delicately sweet and fully chocolaty. A very special spicy and aromatic cocoa that fits perfectly into the winter and Christmas season!

Ingredients for one Gugelhupf mold:

Apple Blend:
  • 3 apples
  • 50 g sugar
  • 4 tablespoons rum
  • juice of half a lemon
  • 100 g ground hazelnuts
  • 250 g soft butter
  • 175 g butter
  • 1 packet of bourbon vanilla sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 250 g flour
  • 1 sachet baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 50 g Red Spirit mulled cocoa
  • Chocolate icing

Peel the apples, remove the core and cut into cubes of about 1 cm. Mix with sugar, rum and lemon juice and let steep for half an hour.

Preheat the oven to 175 °C.

Roast the hazelnuts in a pan without fat and let them cool down. Grind them finely with a lightning chopper. Cream the butter with the sugar and vanilla sugar, add the eggs gradually.

Mix the flour with the baking powder, cinnamon, cocoa and ground nuts and stir in. Finally, fold in the apple mixture. Pour the batter into the greased baking pan and smooth it out. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 – 60 minutes (be sure to test with a stick!). Let cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then turn out and let cool completely on a rack.

If desired, glaze with a chocolate icing or serve dusted with powdered sugar.
