When we’re cycling back home after a long day at the lake, the light summer wind is blowing through our hair, the evening sun is warming our skin, and the most important thing we have to ponder on the way is the difficult decision about which cold drink to reach for at home – yes, then it’s summer!

On warm summer days, we find it especially easy to feel the pure lightness of being and enjoy life with all our senses. A refreshing summer drink is as much a part of summer for us as the first ice cream, that’s for sure. And yes, you read that correctly: Summertime is cocoa time! Contrary to the widespread opinion that cocoa is only something for the cold season, we are firmly convinced: There is the right cocoa speciality for every moment and every mood.

Your summer cool-down: The Becks cocoa Frappés

This delicious recipe shows you how to enjoy cocoas or our frappés cold in summer as well as in winter.

What is a frappé, anyway?

Frappé comes from the French word “frapper” and means “to shake” in German. Traditionally, it is a cold drink made from coffee foamed by shaking or mixing with ice cubes and is common in the Mediterranean region of Southeastern Europe and Southeast Asia. Cocoa also has a stimulating and energizing effect, but more even, gentle and lasting. Perfect ingredients, then, to create a summer delicious-cool cacao drink that will satisfy all your needs!

Preparation time 10 minutes
For 2 servings

Ingredients

450 ml milk or vegetable drink

4 tbsp Becks cocoa™ Frappé White Wedding

2 scoops vanilla ice cream

10 ice cubes

3 Oreo biscuits

Topping

2 tbsp coconut chips

1 tbsp cocoa nibs

Cream

For the topping, toast the coconut chips in a pan without fat until golden. Place the milk/vegetable drink in a blender with the vanilla ice cream, the ice cubes and the Becks cocoa™ White Wedding and blend on high speed until creamy. Add the Oreo biscuits and blend briefly once or twice more. Pour the cool frappé into two (chilled) glasses, finish with cream and serve with toasted coconut chips and cocoa nibs.
